What do you wear when SUP paddling?
You don't need a wetsuit (but you can rent one if you want), so here are some clothing suggestions:
-
- Sun – Swimwear, t-shirt, top and cap/hat
- Clouds - Swimwear, t-shirt, long sleeve and possibly a pair of tights/comfortable trousers
- A little rain – Swimwear, t-shirt, windbreaker and possibly a pair of tights/comfortable trousers
- In windy weather, tights and a windbreaker can be nice.
Remember that there is always a risk of tripping. So please bring a change just in case. You can always lock valuables and change with us.
Age limits
Minimum age to rent a SUP by yourself (unaccompanied by an adult): 16 years.

Here are some simple tips that can help increase safety.
-
- Keep an eye on the weather. Bad weather can come quickly and without warning. If you intend to go on a longer paddling trip, check the weather forecast before you go. It is especially important if you are paddling on the open sea or larger lakes where sudden wind changes and fog can be devastating.
- Plan your route. If you intend to finish paddling at the same place you started, plan your route so that you start paddling against the wind. When you're on your way back, you get help from the wind. The same applies if you paddle in flowing water.
- If you are paddling alone, let someone know your intended route. And get in touch when you're on land again.
- Never paddle without a leash on the open sea or in current-filled water, but NOT in flowing water in rivers or rapids. Then a waist leash with quick release should possibly be used. (Accidents have happened when the leash gets caught in something and you can't untie it from the foot).
- Keep your distance from boats and ships. Even if you see them, it is not certain that they see you.
- Do not paddle on fairways. If you must cross a waterway, choose the shortest route and watch for boat traffic.
- Bring fluids. There is rarely shade on the water. If you're also wearing a wetsuit or training clothes, it's easy to overheat.
If you follow these simple tips, your paddling will be safer. Both for you and for others on the lake.
Get out and enjoy nature and the sea!
